Taiwan's United Daily News today posted a report claiming that Foxconn will be the leading iPhone assembler for the iPhone 14, especially all iPhone 14 Pro models. The report points to Apple's traditional timeline as to when their next-gen phone begins a new iPhone cycle.

The annual OEM trial production operation period has reportedly now begun as it does every year at this time. Apple usually issues a trial production order for their next-gen iPhone to the foundry and then the foundry prepares a bill of materials (BOM) to establish appropriate production, test production equipment and establish a quality monitoring process.

After the trial production begins, the foundry must collect data, correct abnormalities and evaluate the production process and products that need to be improved. The New Product Introduction (NPI) process is regarded as the early stage of receiving orders and entering mass production.

Taiwan's UDN was glad to report that Taiwan will be a big winner in iPhone 14 production with Chinese firm Luxshare Precision being shut out of higher end iPhone 14 Pro production. Last year Luxshare had won about 3% of iPhone 13 Pro production.

Luxshare will reportedly be limited to the base iPhone 14 model where they may produce up to 39 million units in 2022. For more on this, read the full UDN report here.
