Apple Files Figurative Trademarks for 'Apple has a Plan'… to make Every Single Product Carbon Neutral by 2030

Back in April Apple started a new commitment that by 2030, every single Apple product around the world will be carbon neutral. From design to manufacturing to shipping, usage, and recycling. They posted a promotional video about it as presented below. This week the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office published Apple's figurative trademark applications for "Apple has a plan."

Apple's trademark filing serial number 97056986 was filed under International Classes 040 that covers "Recycling" and 041 that covers "Arranging and conducting educational conferences and training on environmental protection, energy efficiency, renewable energy, recycling, carbon emissions reduction and removal, emissions abatement, and waste reduction; business education and training services."
Apple's trademark filing serial number 97056841 was filed under International Classes 035, 036 and 042 as outlined below:
Class 035: "Business management; business consulting services; providing business, consumer, and commercial information over computer networks and global communication networks; retail store services, namely, providing a trade-in and buy-back program for used consumer electronics goods; retail store services featuring computer, electronic and entertainment products, telecommunications apparatus, mobile phones, handheld mobile digital electronic devices, and other consumer electronics, computer software, and accessories, peripherals, parts, and carrying cases for such products, provided via the Internet and other computer, electronic and communications networks; arranging and conducting business conferences on environmental protection, energy efficiency, renewable energy, recycling, carbon emissions reduction and removal, emissions abatement, and waste reduction; arranging and conducting professional networking programs for businesses; policy advocacy to promote the protection of the environment by businesses."

The image below is from Apple's video, illustrating it's "figurative trademark" in use in the marketplace. Although their marketing has added a green leaf, the trademark filing doesn't cover any particular color scheme.
It should be noted that international trademark classes that Apple files their trademarks under are important as the trademark registration will only protect those classes that have been identified in their original application. In a legal battle, the classes filed for originally could make or break a legal case.
