Apple Files for 'iPhone 12' Trademark in Context with Cases while Updating their International Claims for their 'Pages' Trademark
Apple finally gets around to filing their iPhone 12 trademark in the U.S. though it's in context with protective cases. Apple has also updated their "Pages" trademark for the internet age.

Apple's "Pages" app name was given registered status back in 2006. At the time the trademark was protected by International Class 009 covering:
"Computer programs for creating, editing and printing documents comprised of text and graphics and utility programs for use therewith; user manuals in printed and electronic form distributed therewith." A copy is presented below.

Apple has filed an update to their "Pages" trademark under serial number 90333927 that adds International Class 042 protection which updates the trademark to include internet services and much more as follows:
"Application service provider (ASP) services featuring computer software to enable accessing, viewing, annotating, storing, editing, downloading, displaying, sharing, and distributing electronic media, images, audio, video, data, information and documents over the internet or other communications network; software as a service (SAAS) services featuring computer software to enable accessing, viewing, annotating, storing, editing, downloading, displaying, sharing, and distributing electronic media, images, audio, video, data, information and documents over the internet or other communications network; providing temporary use of on-line non-downloadable software for accessing, viewing, annotating, storing, editing, downloading, displaying, sharing, and distributing electronic media, images, audio, video, data, information and documents over the internet or other communications network; providing temporary use of on-line non-downloadable software for creating, editing, and printing documents comprised of text and graphics and utility programs for use therewith; providing a website featuring non-downloadable software for word processing and to enable accessing, viewing, annotating, storing, editing, downloading, displaying, sharing, and distributing electronic media, images, audio, video, data, information and documents over the internet or other communications network; computer services, namely, hosting on-line web facilities for accessing, viewing, annotating, storing, editing, downloading, displaying, sharing, and distributing electronic media, images, audio, video, data, information and documents over the internet or other communications network."

Interestingly the trademark for "iPhone 12" appears to be is in context with iPhone 12 cases. Apple has filed the "iPhone 12" trademark under International Class 009 with the following coverage:
"Cases adapted for mobile phones; Cases for smartphones; Cases for mobile phones; Screen protectors comprised of iPhone adapted for use with portable electronic devices; Carrying cases for cell phones; Carrying cases specially adapted for pocket calculators and cellphones; Cell phone cases; Keyboard cases for smartphones; Protective cases for cell phones; Protective covers and cases for cell phones; Protective covers and cases for cell phones, laptops and portable media players; Waterproof cases for smart phones."

The U.S. Patent Office defines a specimen as being an example of how a company is actually using their trademark in the marketplace with the goods or services in their application. It is what consumers see when they are considering whether to purchase the goods or services Apple provides in connection with their trademark(s). In this case Apple has provided an image of the backside of an iPhone 12 case with the iPhone 12 camera exposed.
