Apple Envisions Future Concepts for MagSafe Accessories to include an Application for AirPods & an iPad Smart Cover
On October 01, twelve days prior to the iPhone 12 event, Patently Apple posted a patent report on future accessories. One of the future accessories touched on iPhone folios with magnets. Our reported noted that "patent FIG. 1, the target #126 is a magnet that emits an external magnetic field that is detectable by a magnetic field sensor. The accessory device may include an inductive charging coil designed to supply power to the internal power supply 128, or other devices of the accessory device that require power."
Yesterday, just days after the iPhone 12 event, a far more descriptive accessories patent was published by the US Patent & Trademark Office that reflects MagSafe in a clearer fashion, though it's an extension of the October 01 Apple patent filing.

In Apple's patent FIG. 7 below we see the power supply on the outside of folio and FIG. 11 include both a power supply and an inductive charging module.

And lastly, Apple's patent FIGS. 15 and 16 below illustrate triple MagSafe Power Supply strips added to the inside of a future Smart iPad cover.
Apple's patent application number 20200328605 that was published yesterday by the U.S. Patent Office was filed back Q3 2019. Considering that this is a patent application, the timing of new MagSafe accessories coming to market is unknown at this time.
