Apple's CEO announced that the Company has designed unique Face Shields for Health Care Works that begin to ship this week
Late yesterday afternoon, Apple's CEO took to Twitter to communicate updates as to what Apple is doing in the fight against COVID-19. Cook stated that "Apple has been working hard on ways we can support our heroic front line medical professionals and I want to share two updates today." The second update involved face shields. On this front, Cook stated: "Second, we've launched a company wide effort, bringing together product designers, engineering, operations and packaging teams and our suppliers to design, produce and ship face shields for health workers." Update: 2: 50 p.m.: President Trump thanked Apple for their new contribution of 1 million face shields a week during his daily COVID-19 press conference.
Apple plans to make and deliver the first million shields this week and one million each week after that starting with the needs of the U.S. first and then globally. Tim Cook added, "For Apple, this is a labor of love and gratitude and we'll share more of our efforts over time." Hear the full message from Cook at the end of our report.
