Apple won 56 Patents today Covering the Apple Watch/iPhone ECG App, Watch Fall Detection & Magnetized Apple Pencil
Last September Patently Apple posted a patent application report titled "Four of Apple's Patent Applications published today Cover iDevice User Interfaces for Health Monitoring, ECG & more." Today Apple was granted this patent under number 10,624,550. The images below are from that patent.
Apple Watch Fall Detection
In April 2019 Patently Apple posted a patent application report titled "Apple's Patent behind the Apple Watch Series 4 Feature known as 'Fall Detection' was Published Today." Apple was granted this patent today under number 10,629,048. Apple's patent FIG. 1 below is a diagram of an example system for determining whether a user has fallen and/or may be in need of assistance.
Apple Pencil Magnetically Attaches to iPad for Charging
Apple was granted patent 10,627,923 today for touch-based input devices, such as a stylus (Apple Pencil) that can receive tactile input from a user. The tactile input functions can be performed by a touch sensor, such as a capacitive sensing device. A touch sensor can be integrated into a stylus in a low-profile form. Wireless charging and magnetic coupling with a host device are also facilitated.
Patently Apple first covered this concept back in a 2017 patent report titled "Apple Reveals new Attachment and Recharging Solutions for the Next Generation of Apple Pencil." Below are images from that patent report.
