We learned today that South Korea's Samsung said earlier today that its operating profit for the three months that ended in March likely rose from a year ago and beat expectations slightly. What saved their quarter wasn't smartphones or TVs but rather memory products. CNBC reported that "Memory components used in smartphones and data centers make up Samsung’s main profit-making business."

Late this afternoon Apple announced that they'll be holding their Financial Conference call on April 30, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. PT / 5:00 p.m. ET.

On February 17 Apple preannounced that they would miss their original Q2 2020 guidance due to COVID-19 and shutting down Apple Stores in China and then the rest of the world.

Business has been shut down and the Trump administration is working with Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx to determine when America could get back to work and drive the economy back to health. There has to be a balance between health and business or the American economy could be in jeopardy for years.

Until such time, Apple, like most Silicon Valley companies, won't be reporting profits until business gets back to normal. In the meantime, Apple is now working to obtain millions of N95 top of the line face masks and deliver their own custom designed face shields to assist the front line health care workers first in the U.S. and then around the world.
