Apple has been granted 9 Design Patents Covering Powerbeats Pro Earphones and Charging Case
Yesterday the Hong Kong Patent Office granted Apple 9 design patents covering Powerbeats Pro earphones and charging case. I've never seen Apple design patents being published ahead of a product launch and so we know it's not the upcoming Powerbeats 4. The Patent Office granted 7 design patents for the case and 2 for the Powerbeats earphones that you'll see below.
Unlike "patent applications" that provide the public with an abstract, summary and details of an invention, design patents published around the world are limited to only providing the public with design patent figures and at times, bare bones information.
While listing Apple Inc as the company who filed for the patents, the design patents don't identify the designs being for Powerbeats or any specific model. However, the designs match up with the Powerbeats Pro design on their website with specific characteristics to look for as shown below.
Powerbeats Pro Earphones
Both Powerbeats Pro design patents were filed under Locarno Classification 14 – 01 which covers "Equipment for the Recording or Reproduction of Sounds or Pictures." The class covers a lot of territory covering earphones, headphones and more.
Powerbeats Pro Case
All of Apple's Powerbeats Pro cases were filed under Locarno Class 3 – 01 covering "cases specifically designed for their contents."
Below you'll see an overview graphic illustrating the design patents that were issued to Apple yesterday by the Hong Kong Patent Office.
