A report from the Calcalist the Israeli news site states that the Hebrew voice used for Siri in Israel was originally recorded by Nuance in 2007 and later obtained by Apple. The person behind the voice of Siri in Israel is radio broadcaster Galit Gura-Eini who launched a lawsuit against Apple on Wednesday demanding $66,000. Gura-Eini reportedly states in the lawsuit that "Apple has turned her voice 'into a vehicle for improper and humiliating speech.'"
More specifically, Gura-Eini clarified that humiliating speech meant her voice was being used to say sexual, racist, and otherwise violent speech through the Siri app.
Apple, through its lawyer Amir Halevy, claims as part of the suit it legally obtained the rights to Gura-Eini’s recordings from Nuance. Apple's lawyer further noted that Gura-Eini had already been compensated. For more read the full Calcalist report here.
