The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office officially published a series of 59 newly granted patents for Apple Inc. today. In this particular report we cover Millimeter Wave Yagi Antennas that could be used in future 5G Ready iDevices and the 'raise gesture' for Apple Watch. Apple also won design patents for the iPhone battery and the back side cover module for iPhone 8. We wrap up this week's granted patent report with our traditional listing of the remaining granted patents that were issued to Apple today.

Granted Patent: Apple Watch, Raise Gesture

Apple's newly granted patent covers their invention relating to the Apple Watch's "raise gesture detection." Apple Watch limits the available operating power. To avoid wasting power, Apple Watch goes into sleep mode if the watch isn't being used. The raise gesture by a user, as our cover graphic illustrates, will instantly turn on Apple Watch.
