If you're an executive making the big bucks, then you may just want to consider getting your younger children the ultimate robotic pet that could entertain them while ensuring that you don't have to take it for walks and clean up after it. Sony's Aibo will begin shipping in the U.S. sometime in September and set you back US$2899. Sony's Aibo video could be found here and below is an intro video from Unboxed Therapy. An app will be available to assist owners to customize features. More than likely the app will be made available for iPhone users.
As AI advances, robotic pets will advance and lower prices are assured. Apple introduced AI in new iPhones last year and AI is likely be used in future versions of Siri. AI could advance Hey Siri according to Apple's Machine Learning April 2018 issue. HomePod could be another product that will be able to use AI over time. For now, aibo steals the show.
According to Newsweek: "Sony's Aibo robo-dog is now more lifelike than ever. After more than a decade away, Sony has bred an even cuter and more sophisticated robot dog: Aibo. The pet robot dog uses artificial intelligence to interact with its human owner. It can wag its tail and play tricks like fetch or high-five."
Sony officially introduced aibo at an event held in November 2017 and now it's ready for prime time.
