On May 24th Patently Apple posted a report titled "While Samsung wanted to Pay Apple $28 Million for Patent Infringement, the Jury's Verdict was for over Half a Billion." Loser Samsung responded to the verdict by stating that "today's decision flies in the face of a unanimous Supreme Court ruling in favor of Samsung on the scope of design patent damages. We will consider all options to obtain an outcome that does not hinder creativity."
Now two weeks after a California federal jury ruled that Samsung must pay Apple $539 million for infringing its smartphone patents, Samsung asked the court on Thursday to grant it judgment as a matter of law or hold a new trial, and reimburse it $145 million for damages it paid Apple on an invalid touch-screen patent.
In Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.'s 34-page post-trial motion, the Korean tech giant said the jury's verdict, which awarded Apple Inc. about half of what it requested, wasn't supported by the evidence.
Samsung has now spit on two jury verdicts. How many times can they get away with this behavior?
