Apple Wins a Series of Design Patents in Europe Covering AirPower, iPhone X Glass Covers, Leather Folio & more
Patently Apple has reported on many Apple trademarks and patents over the years from Europe and today we begin coverage of Apple's European design patents. The granted or registered design patents will begin with 2018 and nothing prior. In this first European design patent report we cover AirPower, iPhone X glass covers (front and back), the iPhone X battery and iPhone X leather folio case which was only published today.
Unlike "patent applications," design patents that are published by the U.S. or any foreign Patent and Trademark Office only provide the public with the architectural drawings or figures of the design and never reveal pertinent information about a particular design in terms of materials, parts and so forth. All we get are simple patent figures as noted below.
A Note for Tech Sites covering our Report: We ask tech sites covering our report to kindly limit the use of our graphics to one set of images. Thanking you in advance for your cooperation.
Design Patent: AirPower
Design Patent: iPhone X Battery Configuration
Design Patent: iPhone X Front Glass Cover

European design patents provide a "filing date" on one database page and then drilling down further into the document they provide a patent timeline illustrating filing, registration, published day and expiry date as noted below. In this case Apple's iPhone X leather folio was filed of Feb. 9, was registered on April 18 and published today to the public, May 13, 2018. The design patent expires in Feb. 9, 2023.
