Apple's CEO prepared a responsible back-up plan with Foxconn for a possible manufacturing plant in the U.S. back in June, well ahead of the election. The Softbank / Foxconn announcements this past week proves it was real and not "fake news." Tim Cook also was one of the first and few in Silicon Valley to call and congratulate Trump on his victory. This week Al Gore met with Trump to talk about climate change but I'm sure that the topic of Apple surfaced and now we're learning that Tim Cook will be meeting with Trump on Wednesday along with Alphabet, Microsoft, IBM, Cisco, Intel and Oracle CEO's at Trump Tower. The responsible Silicon Valley companies will be meeting with Trump and that must be driving the small fry left-wing nut cases like Zynga's co-founder absolutely crazy.

The NYTimes, the Wall Street Journal, Recode and The Verge have all reported that "Invites for the gathering went out last week, as has been previously reported, but only to a small group of largely Silicon Valley execs whose names were not announced.

Oracle's CEO Safra Catz stated in a statement to Recode that "I plan to tell the President-elect that we are with him and will help in any way we can. If he can reform the tax code, reduce regulation and negotiate better trade deals, the U.S. technology industry will be stronger and more competitive than ever."

The invite for the Wednesday event came from Trump's chief of staff Reince Priebus, his son-in-law Jared Kushner and investor Peter Thiel who sits on the Facebook board.

Bloomberg reported that "Alphabet has become a major lobbying force in Washington, and has a wide range of national policy interests. Those include taxes on offshore earnings, data encryption, autonomous vehicles, telecommunications spectrum and health care. Trump has proposed weakening net neutrality rules, a longstanding priority for Google and other internet companies.

Rob Atkinson, president of the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation said the meeting may address China, where several U.S. tech companies have struggled to find a foothold. Google pulled its services from mainland China in 2010 primarily over concerns about censorship.

Whether this preliminary meeting with Trump, who wants American to think big again, is to set the right tone going into 2017 or to make a large announcement is unknown at this time.
