Apple Increases Chip and Component Orders for Apple Watch Series 2
IDC reported in July that the Apple Watch was the number one smartwatch in the world for Q2 with 47% market share. That report didn't include fitness bands as their most recent report did which was unfair to Apple because they don't participate in that market that includes cheap $20 bands. If Apple was the number one smartwatch vendor with 1.6 million units shipped for Q2 then Q3 and Q4 look really promising, according to new stats leaking out of Taiwan.
Today a Taiwanese supply chain report has surfaced stating that "Apple has increased chip and component orders for its new Apple Watch Series 2 products with monthly shipment volumes for August and September both surpassing two million units, according to sources from the supply chain in Taiwan.
The strong pull-in orders indicate that Apple is still confident about the business outlook for its next-generation smartwatch."
