Apple Wins Two Design Patents for Apple Pencil Replacement Tips
Today the Hong Kong Patent and Trademark Office published two design patents granted to Apple regarding Apple Pencil tips described as 'Stylus Tip.' When Apple introduced their smaller 9.7" iPad Pro in late March 2016 they quietly added Apple Pencil Replacement Tips to their accessories webpage selling them in a pack of 4 for US$19. The Apple Pencil's synthetic nib that provides a certain amount of friction on the display that gives the Pencil its natural feel when writing or drawing eventually fades and needs replacement.
Unlike "patent applications," design patents published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and/or any other Patent Office, don't reveal pertinent information about a particular design. All we are given is a series of simple photos and/or line-art graphics of what was actually registered.
