Yesterday we posted a report titled "HP Unveils New Notebooks Tomorrow with the Hope of Stealing the Innovation Thunder away from Apple." 24 hours later and HP has launched the new HP Spectre, the world's thinnest laptop. HP says that "this is design and technology taken to a whole new level. Artisan materials and striking craftsmanship create an experience unlike anything else. With a uniquely stunning design 10.4mm thin combined with impressive performance with full Intel Core i5 or i7 power, the world's most luxurious laptop is completely irresistible.

What it doesn't have is Apple's MacBook display with its stunning 2304-by-1440 resolution. It's limited to 1080p. But it does have multiple USB Type-C connectors and a higher end processor than the MacBook. And yes, it's thinner.

Will it win over die hard Apple fans? No. But it could sway Apple fans that came from the Windows camp years ago – and that's what HP is aiming for; to win back their lost customer base with sexy new hardware.

The new HP Spectre starts at US$1,169 and is available for preorder on April 25 and at retailers in late May.
