Apple's Future MacBooks Likely to Introduce Next-Gen Hinge
According to a new supply chain report today, Apple's next generation MacBooks will once again be thinner due to the use of a new metal injection molding (MIM) process for the cover's hinge. US-based Amphenol, who recently jointed Apple's supply chain, is the one getting the nod for the newly designed hinges. Amphenol is the supplier behind Microsoft's dynamic fulcrum hinge that's found in their new Surface Book Pro. Whether Apple's liquid metal injection technology will be used in the new MacBooks is unknown at this time. The future of thinner MacBooks from Apple may one day eliminate the keyboard, which is already being contemplated.
