Apple Wins Design Patent for Large Swing-Out Glass Doors for Next Generation Apple Stores
On Friday the Hong Kong Patent and Trademark Office granted Apple a design patent for their next generation Apple Store glass doors. The Large swing-out styled glass doors are being implemented in new and upgraded Apple Stores. One such Apple Store is in Albany and another is in Chestnut Hill Mall that we covered in a report last month. The design patent illustrates the new glass doors in two styles of stores.
Unlike "patent applications," design patents published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and/or any other Patent Office, don't reveal pertinent information about a particular design. All we are given is a series of simple photos and/or line-art graphics of what was actually registered. Below we're able to see Apple's illustrations of their new large swing-out glass doors that are automated and have no handles. Unfortunately design patents fail to disclose any of the mechanics or any specialty features that the doors may contain.
