Apple may push the Design Envelope with a Curved Glass iPhone for 2018
Earlier today a report surfaced stating that "Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo at KGI Securities has today issued a new note in which he says that Apple will entirely revamp its iPhone lineup come 2017. According to Kuo, Apple in 2017 will release a new iPhone with glass casing and an AMOLED display."
Chance Miller, writing for 9to5Mac, further noted that Kuo believes that Apple's 2017 iPhone will feature a completely new form factor that includes curved glass casing with a comfortable grip.
That's very interesting considering that Apple revisited their patent in January involving a wraparound curved glass formed iPhone. The design as noted below first surfaced back in December 2013.
Interestingly Apple's patent-pending form factor includes both a comfortable grip as Kuo is calling for, and more importantly, glass. More specifically, Apple's version of glass for this particular design noted above calls for one made from a 'Bulk Amorphous Alloy' better known as liquid metal.
While Ming-Chi Kuo at KGI Securities has a half decent track record with his predictions, it's still a rumor, though one that could be quite profound if it ever came to fruition in either 2017 or 2018.
Still, considering that the 2016 iPhone is likely to introduce a new form factor, it would seem a little rushed to think that Apple will have another ready for 2017. But even if it's for 2018, it's still sounds like Apple is determined to keep pushing the design envelope for some time to come and keep their fan based thrilled.
