HTC Tries Humor in a new ad Campaign Attacking the Apple-Samsung Smartphone Duopoly
HTC is trying to stay relevant in the smartphone race by trying to shake things up in a new ad campaign which attempts to grab the public's attention away from Apple and Samsung by means of humor. HTC's new ad uses the ridiculous pharmaceutical industry's form of advertising by telling you that you that if you're currently taking "Cellami," (think Baloney) you may be suffering from Bi-Phonal Displeasure Disorder caused by SAD (Samsung Affective Disorder) or iOS (Irritable Operating System). Consumers with this disorder will experience fast relief with one HTC One M9.
Humor in ads is a good thing. Apple successfully mocked Windows for years in their "I'm a Mac and I'm a PC" ad campaign. Yet HTC's new ad just doesn't deliver the humor that they believe it does. Maybe you'll see it differently.
