In August we reported that the HP's designer watch was going to launch this fall. The watch launched six days ago in the US and went on sale today in Canada at Gilt with prices ranging from C$458 and C$853. The watch comes with 10 functions, the ability to live stream things like stocks and sport scores, offers a week of battery life and most importantly, syncs with iPhone models starting with the iPhone 4S. Getting it to market ahead of Apple Watch was certainly the right move; though this smartwatch will appeal to watch traditionalists rather than the heavy techie crowd.
The new Michael Bastian watch is closer to a designer watch than it is a smartwatch. It won't really compete directly with Apple Watch as it's aiming for a market in between and certainly to the watch wearing traditionalist. It's lighter on tech and heavier on design. Only time will tell if they can find a unique niche that's sustainable.
