10. News
News out of Abu Dhabi today has revealed third quarter sales of smartphones in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Out of the top five smartphones sold we see that Apple held strong with three models. The iPhone 5 was number one, the iPhone 4S as number three and the iPhone 4 as number four as confirmed by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority.

Between July 1 and September 30, 46 percent of handsets registered in UAE were smartphones. In terms of smartphone models, the iPhone 5 was the most commonly used smartphone in the UAE, with 2.8 percent of such handsets registered on UAE networks. Samsung's SIII landed in second spot and the S4 took fifth spot.

On December 11 we reported that Apple's iPhone 5s was the world's bestselling smartphone with their iPhone 5 and 4S models rounding out the top five. This is likely to be mirrored in UAE's Q4 smartphone statistics when they're made public next quarter.
