Why File Eleven Trademark Applications for iCloud?

At times Apple has had a delay in getting a trademark application approved because they've been forced to re-clarify or re-state their description of a given International Class specific. A recent case in point would be their "iBookstore" trademark. It's being held back due to one of six classes that didn't hit the money with the trademark examiner. The USPTO then sends out a suspension notice to Apple. In this case, their description for International Class 41wasn't clear enough for the USPTO who stated that "Specifically, the wording "educational and entertainment services, namely, providing an online portal to allow internet users to preview, download and read electronic publications," is indefinite and must be clarified in order to ensure proper classification."

To avoid this from happening to iCloud, Apple has decided to file eleven applications covering a separate class to ensure that the iCloud trademark will get through the USPTO in some capacity and therefore officially protected.
