At a Qualcomm event today in China today, the company launched their next-gen mobile Snapdragon 8s processor

Qualcomm held a press conference today and announced the launch of the fourth-generation Snapdragon  8s mobile platform, which is claimed to be the most improved Snapdragon flagship SoC in history, according to China's IT Home tech site.

Qualcomm said that many leading OEM manufacturers and brands such as REDMI, iQOO, Xiaomi, OPPO and Meizu will be the first to adopt the fourth-generation Snapdragon 8s, and the first batch of commercial terminals equipped with this platform are expected to be available in the next few months.

In terms of specifications, the Snapdragon 8s Gen4 (SM8735) is built on TSMC's 4nm process and adopts a "1 super 7 large" core design, including 1 X4 super core at 3.21 GHz, 3 A720 large cores at 3.01 GHz, 2 A720 large cores at 2.80 GHz, 2 A720 large cores at 2.02 GHz, and an integrated Adreno 825 GPU (the same generation GPU as the Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition Adreno 830 but with a slightly lower scale).

According to Qualcomm, its Kryo CPU performance is 31% higher than the previous generation. The integrated Qualcomm Adreno GPU adopts a new slicing architecture, which brings major upgrades in graphics processing, with GPU performance increased by 49% and energy efficiency increased by 39%. It also supports hardware-level ray tracing, super resolution 2.0, adaptive performance engine 3.0, etc.

uses the Hexagon NPU with improved microarchitecture and larger shared memory, which can provide a 44% AI performance improvement. With the help of multi-language terminal-side generative AI, it supports mainstream AI models in the industry such as DeepSeek. At the same time, it is equipped with a Qualcomm sensor hub to achieve a 60% AI performance improvement and reduce operating power consumption.

In other aspects, this SoC also has the same 18-bit AI triple ISP imaging function as the flagship, supports Bluetooth 6.0, Qualcomm extended personal area network, supports Night Vision night scene shooting, real-time skin color and sky correction, unlimited semantic segmentation, etc.
