A new Statistical Report covers Global Smartphone Sales Share by Operating System
A new statistical report published today covers Global smartphone sales share by operating system. Here are the Market Highlights:
- Global smartphone sales remained unchanged YoY in Q4 2024, leading to marginal changes in OS shares globally.
- Android captured a 74% market share during the quarter, unchanged from the year-ago period. However, Android reached its lowest-ever quarterly share in the US and India. In the US, Motorola and Google's sales growth helped mitigate the double-digit YoY percentage decline among smaller players. Meanwhile, iPhone sales declined by just 1% YoY. In India, iPhone sales reached an all-time high during the quarter due to festive promotions, with older generation iPhones accounting for two-thirds of Q4 2024 sales.
- Harmony OS’ share remained flat YoY globally at 4%. However, it reached 19% in China driven by the strong sales momentum of new launches. Harmony OS remained ahead of Apple’s iOS for the fourth consecutive quarter. The smartphone subsidies in China was beneficial to local OEMs and will likely result in further growth of Harmony OS.
