In Q4 2024 Apple had entered the top five smartphone vendors in India for the very first time. Today IDC posted a statistical report on tablets for Q4 2024 where Apple landed in second place with 18.1% market share and year-over-year growth of 44%. Apple was the only vendor with double digit growth. Samsung, Lenovo and Acer each suffered double digit loses year-over-year. In that light, Apple did exceedingly well.

Priyans h Tiwari, research analyst, IDC India & South Asia: "With tablets getting better cameras, software updates, and app integration, tablets are becoming the device of choice for light productivity and entertainment and attracting a certain section of PC buyers. Despite more than 60% of shipments continued to be entry-level tablets (<=US$300), the average selling price increased from US$309 in FY2023 to US$336 in FY2024 in the consumer segment. With rising component costs resulting in an increase in notebook PC prices, tablets are becoming an attractive option for customers."  

In Q4 2024, Apple released new iPads as follows:

1. M4 iPad Pro: This model features the new M4 chipset and an OLED display. It comes in both 11-inch and 12.9-inch sizes.
2. 12.9-inch iPad Air: This new addition to the iPad Air lineup is designed for creators, offering a balance between performance and practicality.
3. Updated iPad Mini: The iPad Mini received a performance boost, making it a more powerful option for those who prefer a smaller tablet.
