Apple wins a Patent for an iPhone Camera Attachment designed specifically to take the temperature of a Body or Object
Last week Patently Apple posted a patent application report titled "Apple Reveals an all-new Temperature Sensor that could be used with Apple Watch, AirPods and more." Today the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office officially granted Apple a patent that reveals a different approach to temperature measurement systems and methods.
In some embodiments, a camera attachment is provided that enables image based temperature measurement and is low cost. In some embodiments, the attachment is configured to be coupled with a smartphone to take advantage of the integrated camera and processing power to measure the temperature of an object.
Accordingly, in some embodiments, the camera attachment and image processing methods can be used to take body temperature measurements.
In many embodiments, these systems and methods utilize color changes in a temperature reactive material (TRM) to measure the temperature of an object.
