The Chinese Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year, is the most important and widely celebrated festival in China. It marks the beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese lunisolar calendar. Here are some key points about the festival:

  • Date: In 2025, it will be celebrated on January 29th, marking the Year of the Snake.
  • Duration: The celebration typically lasts for 15 days, starting from Chinese New Year's Eve and ending with the Lantern Festival on the 15th day.
  • Activities: The festival includes various customs and activities such as family reunions, feasts, giving red envelopes (lucky money), decorating with red lanterns and couplets, lion dances, dragon dances, and fireworks.
  • Significance: It's a time to honor deities and ancestors, bid farewell to the old year, and welcome the new year with hopes for good fortune, health, and prosperity.

The Spring Festival is not only celebrated in China but also in many other countries with significant Chinese populations, such as Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines. It's a vibrant and joyous occasion that brings families and communities together.
