On January fourth Patently Apple posted a report titled “Qualcomm has announced their 'Spatial Computing' chip that Alliance partners Samsung & Google will use to challenge Apple Vision Pro.“  Then on September fifth we posted a follow-up report titled “Qualcomm, Samsung and Google are extending their XR Headset Alliance to bring Smartglasses with AI to market as a Smartphone Accessory.”

It appears that Samsung is looking to introduce their  next-gen headsets in 2025, unless circumstances change. According to Bryan Ma, an analyst at IDC, Samsung provide a clear clue during a recent Samsung presentation for investors. Under the 2025 Outlook heading, a paragraph reads “Improve connectivity among products, including upcoming XR devices, to further elevate user experiences in the Galaxy ecosystem”.

Samsung listed “devices” as in plural, so this could be interesting. Considering that the tech alliance mentioned smartglasses as a smartphone accessory in the works, Samsung’s slide, as presented below in-part, would strongly suggest that they’re going to bring smartglasses, well, barely “smart” glasses could be coming in 2025 to support their Galaxy phones.

It's been recently rumored that Apple Is 'Seriously Considering' to launch a pair of AR Glasses that will be tethered to the iPhone, without a timeline. More than likely the Samsung/Qualcomm/Google alliance will beat Apple to market on basic smartglasses to challenge the Ray-Ban Meta glasses device.

Yesterday, Patently Apple posted a report titled “While Apple has been filing patents related to Smartglasses for over 7 years, the company now appears to be moving to the next phase.”
