On Friday, Apple announced that it would make a donation to the China Green Carbon Sink Foundation to create environmental training and education opportunities in five national parks in China, reports IT Home.

The report noted that Apple said that as China's national park system develops, this new effort is intended to help train the next generation of environmental stewards . "National parks help protect and showcase the beauty and wonder of the planet we all share, inspiring us to do everything we can to protect it," said Apple CEO Tim Cook. "We are honored to help expand educational opportunities in China's national parks, which can be great training grounds for future environmentalists."

Apple’s new donation will help create training and internship opportunities for young people who are beginning careers in conservation and stewardship . It will also support collaborative efforts to explore best practices to engage young people in national park development.

In the coming months, the China Green Carbon Foundation will convene a National Park Innovation Alliance working group , whose members include China's outstanding universities, research institutions and non-governmental organizations. The working group will consult with experts in the field of ecological protection and restoration around the world to design and implement new educational programs, and Apple will provide support for the project.

The collaboration announced on Friday builds on Apple’s successful existing collaboration with the China Green Carbon Foundation, which previously worked with the foundation on a pilot project in Chengdu to demonstrate the potential of nature-based carbon removal in China. This work will help explore best practices for carbon removal projects in urban and rural areas of China and expand to more regions in the future.
