On July 24th, Patently Apple posted a report titled “Ming-Chi-Kuo: In 2025 Apple will adopt In-House 5G designed Modems in two iPhone models.” Kuo reported that “In 2025, two new iPhone models will ditch Qualcomm's 5G chips and adopt Apple's in-house 5G chips: the iPhone SE4 (1Q25) and the ultra-slim iPhone 17 (3Q25).”

In a quick research note published this morning, Kuo stated that “My latest supply chain survey indicates that Apple's in-house 5G chip shipments will grow rapidly and replace Qualcomm's 5G chips. It's estimated that Apple's in-house 5G chip shipments will reach 35-40 million units in 2025, 90-110 million in 2026, and 160-180 million in 2027. This trend will significantly impact Qualcomm's 5G chip shipments and licensing sales.”
