Earlier this year, Jabil began producing AirPods components—specifically plastic bodies—for Apple in India and currently operates an 858,000 sq ft facility in Pune. After Apple’s new AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 2 were released on Monday, we’re now learning that Jabil is set to invest over US$240 million to establish a new electronics manufacturing facility in Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between a Tamil Nadu government delegation, led by chief minister MK Stalin, and Jabil in the presence of Matt Crowley, Jabil’s executive vice president, along with other senior company officials.

Jabil provides electronics manufacturing services to major global companies, including Apple, Cisco, HP, and Dell, and operates facilities in countries such as China, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, and the USA.

Lastly, India’s Financial Express stated that "Tamil Nadu already hosts key Apple suppliers like Foxconn, Pegatron, Tata Electronics, and Salcomp, the world’s largest smartphone charger manufacturer. Jabil’s new facility will further bolster Apple’s supplier ecosystem in the state."
