Samsung Display will introduce a next-gen display for the interior of Ferrari's first EV Designed by Jonathan Ive
Back in April we learned that Former Apple design lead Jony Ive and OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman were seeking to raise at $1 Billion for a new company to produce an "artificial intelligence-powered personal device," according to a report by The Information. Thrive Capital and SoftBank CEO and super-investor Masayoshi Son have shown interest in the venture.
In more recent news we learn that the Ferrari electric vehicle project that Ive participated in is now scheduled to be released in the fourth quarter of next year. While Apple's Project Titan miserably failed, Jony Ive will get to beat his former employer. Benedetto Vigna, Ferrari CEO, announced this at the completion ceremony of the electric vehicle production plant (e-building) in Maranello, Italy, where the company is headquartered, in June.
This morning, Korea's ETNews reported on this story because a next-gen Samsung display will be used for the new Ferrari's interior. Samsung Display announced in April last year that it would supply OLED to Ferrari, but at the time, the two companies did not disclose the specific vehicle models. Also, Ferrari did not mention which project it was working on when it announced its collaboration with Lovefrom in 2021. This is the first time that Lovefrom has been found to be collaborating with Ferrari in the electric vehicle field and that Samsung OLED will be applied to this electric car.
An industry insider familiar with the matter said, "I understand that they will apply a surprising screen that has never been seen anywhere else before."
