Kuo: Samsung could be Apple's new CIS Supplier for iPhone by 2026

According to a major research note from Ming-Chi Kuo, "Samsung is expected to begin shipping 1/2.6-inch 48MP ultra-wide CMOS image sensors (CIS) to Apple for iPhones as early as 2026, breaking Sony's years-long monopoly on supplying CIS to Apple. To this end, Samsung has established a dedicated team to serve Apple."

In February 2022 Patently Apple posted a report noting that "Apple has been working on an advanced zoom lens for iPhone for some time now. The hang-up in delivering this feature for the iPhone revolved around a patent dispute Apple had with Corephotonics which didn’t allow Samsung to supply Apple with periscope technology."

Of course, Samsung owned Corephotonics to stop Apple from using a zoom lens in an iPhone. So the hypocrisy of Samsung on this matter is astounding considering they now want to be Apple's CIS supplier.

For a litle background: In 2023 Patently Apple posted a report titled "A new report points to how Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max got around Samsung’s Zoom Camera Patents yet Surmises Apple will be sued again."
