Apple TV+ has Released the Trailer for the Darkly Comedic Mystery titled 'Sunny' that will be Dragged Out over 8 Weeks

1 cover Sunny Series

Apple TV+ has unveiled the trailer for its highly anticipated, ten-episode, darkly comedic mystery series “Sunny.”  The new series “Sunny” stars Jones as Suzie, an American woman living in Kyoto, Japan, whose life is upended when her husband and son disappear in a mysterious plane crash. As “consolation” she’s given Sunny, one of a new class of domestic robots made by her husband’s electronics company. Though at first Suzie resents Sunny’s attempts to fill the void in her life, they gradually develop an unexpected friendship, and together they uncover the dark truth of what really happened to Suzie’s family, becoming dangerously enmeshed in a world Suzie never knew existed.

"Sunny" will premiere globally on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, July 10 with its first two episodes. For those who prefer to Binge-Watch a series in its entirety to keep the action and storyline intact instead of painfully waiting for weekly episodes like cable TV, Apple confirms that the full series will be available to subscribers on September 4.

Produced for Apple TV+ by A24, “Sunny” is written and executive produced by Kattie Robbins, through her shingle Babka Pictures. Tcherniak executive produces for Poppycock Pictures. A24 and Jones also serve as executive producers. The series is based on the book “The Dark Manual” by award-winning Japan-based Irish writer Colin O’Sullivan.

“Sunny” marks the second collaboration for Apple, A24 and Jones following the global premiere of Sofia Coppola’s acclaimed film “On the Rocks.” Jones also recently starred in Apple’s global hit series “Silo,” based on Hugh Howey’s New York Times bestselling trilogy of dystopian novels.

Side Note: While Apple TV+ offers some decent original shows, dragging them out over 6-10 weeks kills the fun of streaming. If you're new to Apple TV+, then you get to enjoy all the previous series in their totality and you're able to binge watch them like you can on Netflix. The fun of any series is downgraded to just being another monotonous TV channel when the story line is dragged out. It's a shame.

I've personally cancelled my subscription to Apple TV+ as of August and I'll sign up again every 6-12 months just for a month so that I could binge watch Apple's new series and then cancel it again. Dragging out a series like Apple TV's 'Sugar' really killed the fun of it for me. I've cancelled other streaming services as well for the same reasoning. Some streamers, like BritBox for instance, only offers a new show worth watching every 3 or 4 months but they want you to continue paying your monthly fee. Are you kidding? For me, the whole streaming experience has soured. If you agree or disagree, send in your comments on our site or on our Twitter feed.
