Trademark: The Figurative version of the Apple App Store
If you thought that the 'Apple App Store' trademark would have been filed long ago, then you'd be wrong. Apple's official trademarks page shows otherwise. This week, Apple filed for the figurative version of the Apple App Store trademark under European application #019002365 which was filed in Warsaw, Poland. It was filed under three International Classes 009, 035 and 042 as noted in full below:
Class 009: "Computer software for use in browsing, searching, reviewing, purchasing, downloading, reviewing, and rating electronic computer games and computer software applications; computer software for use in searching and making purchases in online marketplaces for software applications."
Class 035: "Association services, namely, promoting artistic and technological progress and achievement in the fields of entertainment, video arts, social media, computer software applications, computer games, digital marketing, and music; retail store services featuring computer software and electronic computer games provided via the Internet and other computer and electronic communication networks; retail store services featuring computer software and electronic computer games for use on computers, mobile digital electronic devices and other consumer electronic devices; Searching and retrieving information, sites, and other resources available on global computer networks and other electronic communication networks for others."
Class 042: Maintenance, repair and updating of computer software; Providing a website featuring technical information relating to computer software; providing information concerning computer software development via the Internet and other computer and electronic communication networks; Providing computer software consulting services; technical support services, namely, troubleshooting in the nature of diagnosing and repairing computer software problems; computer services, namely, providing search engines for obtaining data via electronic communications networks; Providing temporary use of non-downloadable computer software and hosting online facilities to enable users to program, organize and access audio, video, text, multimedia content and third-party computer software programs; Internet services, namely, creating indexes of information, sites, and other resources available on global computer networks for others.
Oddly, the Australian Trademark Office shows that the trademark "Apple App Store," in text alone was registered back in 2017. The original Apple App Store icon as presented below was registered in Canada under #TMA869,448 back in January 2014.
Design Patents for visionOS
This week, Apple was also granted 18 visionOS related design patents in Germany. Below is a sampling of seven of those designs.
