Apple filed for 'Genmoji' trademark in Hong Kong while being Granted four Design Patents in Germany prior to the launch of Vision Pro in July
Last Monday, Apple introduced Apple Intelligence, the personal intelligence system for iPhone, iPad, and Mac that combines the power of generative models with personal context to deliver intelligence that’s incredibly useful and relevant.
One Apple Intelligence feature is called Genmoji. It takes emoji to an entirely new level and allow users to create an original Genmoji to express themselves. By simply typing a description, their Genmoji appears, along with additional options. Users can even create Genmoji of friends and family based on their photos. Just like emoji, Genmoji can be added inline to messages, or shared as a sticker or reaction in a Tapback.
Trademark: Genmoji
Last week Apple filed for the " Genmoji" trademark in Hong Kong under International Classifications 009 and 042. For something as simple as an emoji, mind you, AI based, Apple's International Classification coverage took up 7 pages of descriptions which we're not covering for obvious reasons. Overall, Apple covered all manor of hardware including smartwatches, smartglasses, smart rings, smart speakers, smart home hubs, headphones, earbuds, headsets, televisions; it also covered Augmented Reality software and so much more.
Interestingly, Apple's original and priority filing was made in Liechtenstein on April 26, 2024. Why is this possibly important? Well, in the U.S., Genmoji LLC filed for the "Genmoji" trademark on June 10, 2024, well after Apple. Thus far Apple has yet file for this trademark in the U.S.
