Apple gives Samsung, LG and BOE the green light to begin Mass Production of iPhone 16 OLED Displays
It's being reported this morning that Samsung Display and LG Display received approval for mass production of Apple iPhone 16 Pro OLED. LG Display, LG Display has secured an opportunity to narrow the gap with Samsung Display in the iPhone OLED market.
According to The Elect, Samsung Display and LG Display will soon begin the approval process for mass production of iPhone 16 Pro Max OLED.
The iPhone 16 series, scheduled to be released in the second half of the year, consists of a total of 4 types, including 2 types of standard lineup (Regular and Plus) and 2 types of Pro lineup (Pro and Pro Max).
Samsung Display supplies all four types of OLED, while LG Display supplies only two types of OLED in the Pro lineup. BOE is expecting to supply two types of OLED for the iPhone 16 standard lineup. The models that Samsung Display and LG Display compete with are two types of Pro lineup.
Both Samsung Display and LG Display still have the iPhone 16 Pro Max OLED mass production approval process left, but LG Display secured an opportunity to narrow the gap with Samsung Display by receiving approval for iPhone 16 Pro OLED mass production this month.
Additionally, it is known that Apple has simplified some procedures in the approval process for LG Display's iPhone 16 Pro OLED mass production.
In the case of the iPhone 16 Pro Max OLED mass production approval process, it is reported that Samsung Display is scheduled to proceed at the end of this month, and LG Display is scheduled to proceed in the middle of next month.
