Apple Supplier ASE has won Exclusive orders for the iPhone 16's Capacitive Touch Buttons that replace Physical Buttons

One of the highlights of this year’s new iPhone 16 series is the elimination of the physical volume buttons and power button on both sides of the frame, replacing them with capacitive touch buttons. In order to enhance the user experience, a second Taptic Engine motor will be added to provide vibration feedback when the user presses the keys, achieving the goal of disappearing the physical keys on the outside of the iPhone body.

Apple wants to remove the physical buttons such as volume buttons and power buttons that have been used in the iPhone for many years. It requires at least two system-in-package modules to integrate capacitive buttons and Taptic Engine motors and other related components. Large orders for related system-in-package modules are made by ASE Investment Holdings won it exclusively .

More specifically, United Daily News reports that to enhance the user experience, two Taptic Engine motors will be added to provide vibration feedback when the user presses the keys, thereby achieving the goal of disappearing the physical keys on the outside of the iPhone.

In response to Apple's new design and new order demands, ASE's Kaohsiung factory is working hard to expand production and is expected to enter a phase of heavy shipments in the third quarter.
