On Friday, the Hong Kong Patent and Trademark Office officially granted Apple five new design patents relating to visionOS. The description states: "Graphical User Interface having a three dimensional appearance for computer display system of portion thereof." All five designs were filed under Locarno Classification 14-04 covering "Screen Displays and Icons." Included in that class is #102429 covering "Graphical User Interfaces (computer screen layouts)."

A Spectrum of Immersion

Apple's developer page for Vision Pro states: "Apple Vision Pro offers an infinite spatial canvas to explore, experiment, and play, giving you the freedom to completely rethink your experience in 3D. People can interact with your app while staying connected to their surroundings, or immerse themselves completely in a world of your creation. And your experiences can be fluid: start in a window, bring in 3D content, transition to a fully immersive scene, and come right back. The choice is yours, and it all starts with the building blocks of spatial computing in visionOS.

The next two design patents are almost identical. The difference is in the distance of the UI in relation to the left wall in an effort to illustrate how the visionOS UI can shift positions (in an animated way).

Unlike "patent applications" that provide the public with an abstract, summary and details of an invention, design patents published around the world are limited to only providing the public with design patent figures. No additional specifics of the design are made available.
