The Detailed Patent behind the iPhone Mount supporting Apple's Continuity Camera Features for MacBooks was Published today
Mount your MagSafe compatible iPhone securely to your Mac laptop to utilize the new Continuity Camera features of the latest version of macOS for FaceTime, capturing content, video conferencing and more. The magnetic attachment allows for easy, seamless hands-free camera streaming. Easily rotate your iPhone to portrait or landscape. When not connected to your Mac laptop, the magnetic mount also doubles as a ring grip and kickstand for viewing videos or enjoying other content on your iPhone.
Today the US Patent & Trademark Office published a patent application from Apple that covers the iPhone Mount with MagSafe for MacBooks and just using it as a stand for iPhone. Whether Apple licensed their patent to Belkin is officially unknown, though Apple's patent figures below would strongly suggest this to be the case.
Overall, the patent relates to accessory support and positioning a portable electronic device in relatively close proximity to other electronic computing device(s), such that the portable electronic device may be easily accessed, viewed, and used alongside, or in operational connection with, the other electronic computing device(s). As non-limiting examples, portable electronic devices that are described herein may refer to mobile phones, smartphones, and tablet computing devices.
In addition, as non-limiting examples, other electronic computing devices that are described herein may refer to desktop computing devices, laptop computing devices, portable electronic devices, and display devices (e.g., laptop display screens, free-standing display monitors, flat screen televisions, etc.).
