The mastermind behind Apple's original A-Series processors, Gerard Williams, is the mastermind behind Oryon/Snapdragon X Elite and he was brought on stage to briefly talk about the processor in broad strokes.
In this second video clip, Qualcomm lays out the performance of Snapdragon X Elite. While the new processor crushes Intel chips, Qualcomm was more proud that it beats Apple’s M2 Processor. I had to laugh considering that the new chip is only due in 2024 when Apple’s M3 Processor will be introduced.
Then again, Apple just announcement a Mac Event for October 30th that Apple titled "Scary Fast." Will Apple introduce a power boost to their M2 processors or surprise the market with their next-gen M3? Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo thinks that the M3 is possible. On the other hand, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman doesn't think that the M3 is in the cards for 2023. That aside, "Scary Fast" suggests that Qualcomm's big announcements for speed and power consumption over Apple's M2 chip may evaporate into the ether rather quickly.
