It’s being reported today that the next-gen Xiaomi Watch S3 will be the first on the market to offer a blood pressure monitoring feature. The watch has reportedly received a Class II medical certification from Chinese Government.

The seemingly sturdy strap is expected to include inflation and pressure functions to assist in blood pressure measurements.

The watch will feature a user-friendly interface that prominently displays blood pressure readings, distinguishing between systolic and diastolic pressures. These readings come with color-coded risk level indicators.

Further, the Gizmochina report notes that “Additional details from the Beijing Municipal Drug Administration indicate that the Xiaomi Wrist ECG Blood Pressure Recorder package will include the watch, strap, airbag, a charging base, and mobile app software.

It’s important to note that this product is designed for adult use and collects ECG data from the wrist. It utilizes the oscilloscope method to measure blood pressure and pulse, providing values intended for clinical reference.”

Apple has filed patents for a variety of blood pressure devices including an Apple watch band that inflates and an advanced arm band-styled cuff standard cuff as presented below.

Of course, as with any new device or feature, we’ll have to wait for reviews of the Xiaomi  Watch S3 to see if the blood pressure feature is easy to use, and more importantly, if it provides accurate readings.
