The Korea Communications Commission announced on the 6th that it plans to notify Google and Apple of corrective action plans for the application (app) market and impose fines.

The Korea Communications Commission has conducted a fact-finding survey of the Google and Apple app markets starting in August 2022. It was determined that the companies violated acts under the Telecommunications Business Act by abusing its position as a trader to force a specific payment method and delaying app reviews.

The government notified Google and Apple of corrective action plans. The final disposition is confirmed after hearing their opinions and going through deliberation and resolution by the Korea Communications Commission. We are considering imposing a corrective order and fines, including 47.5 billion won ($50 million)for Google and 20.5 billion won ($15 million) for Apple. Reuters via AOL added: "Apple issued a statement, saying: "We disagree with the conclusions made by the KCC in their Examiner's Report, and believe the changes we have implemented to the App Store comply with the Telecommunications Business Act. As we have always done, we will continue to engage with the KCC to share our views."
