Apple CEO Toured Luxshare’s Plant in China that’s responsible for Manufacturing Apple Vision Pro
Apple’s CEO Tim Cook’s took a low-key visit to manufacturing facilities run by Luxshare Precision Industry Co, as the US technology giant closely monitors the progress of its supply chain for their Vision Pro mixed-reality headset.
Cook was spotted on Wednesday morning in a tour of a factory owned by Luxshare – a major Apple AirPods supplier that has also won iPhone 15 orders and was named as an assembler of the Vision Pro – in the northern part of eastern Zhejiang province, according to a report by state-owned Shanghai Securities News. Some photos from this visit were posted on Cook’s own account on microblogging service Weibo.
The tour of Luxshare’s factory appears to show Apple’s fresh vote of confidence in mainland China’s manufacturing supply chain amid recent efforts by the company’s various suppliers to diversify assembly work in countries like India and Vietnam.
Shenzhen-based Luxshare’s deal as assembler for the Vision Pro marked the first time that Apple has enlisted a mainland Chinese supplier to build a “first-generation” product, according to Counterpoint Research analyst Ivan Lam
During Cook’s trip to China he also met with the country’s Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao in Beijing, where he assured the US executive that multinational companies like Apple continue to be welcome in the country, according to a statement on the ministry’s website.
