China's Wingtech Technology obtains 3C Quality Certification to mass-produce M2 MacBook Air

1 cover Wingtec

In April Patently Apple posted a report titled " China's Wingtech began Limited production of Apple's MacBook Air at their Kunming Facility."

Today, we're learning that a new announcement by the State Administration for Market Regulation shows that the Apple M2 processor MacBook Air is being mass-produced by Wingtech Technology in Kunming by obtaining 3C quality certification, which means that after the M1 version of the MacBook Air, the M2 version of the MacBook Air will Expand production in Mainland China.

Lu Media pointed out that in the past, Apple's MacBook Air was produced by Taiwanese factories such as Quanta and Hon Hai. Wingtech Technology is the only MacBook Air assembly plant in mainland China. With the mass production of M2, Wingtech Technology’s shipments will increase.

While Apple has encouraged their suppliers like Hon Hai (Foxconn) and Quanta to open plants in Vietnam and Thailand for MacBook production, it's interesting to see that Apple is continuing to support manufacturing in China despite the disaster in Quanta's plant in Shanghai in May 2022, hurting Apple's Q2 2022 financials.
