Apple was granted 73 patents this week covering a new Barrage of XR Headset Inventions and more
Yesterday, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office officially published a series of 73 newly granted patents for Apple Inc. In this particular report we briefly cover a series of nine Apple Headset patents, with the first relating to headsets containing shock absorbers that protect sensitive sensors that perform various vital functions. And, as always, we wrap up this week's granted patent report with our traditional listing of the remaining granted patents that were issued to Apple this week.
Sensor Assembly for Head-Mountable Device
Apple's granted patent covers a head-mountable device that can securely support sensors in a manner that maintains their positions and orientations over time and avoids applying excessive strain on the sensors, thereby protecting them from harm.
The sensor can be mounted on a flex circuit or circuit board, which is rigidly secured within an inner case, including for example a base and an inner shield. The inner case can be suspended within an outer case, including for example a frame and an outer shield. Shock absorbers on opposing sides of the inner case can flexibly couple the inner case to the outer case. The shock absorbers can dampen the effects of vibrations or other forces applied from the outer case. The inner case can decouple the sensor from strain applied from the shock absorbers.
Apple's patent FIG. 1 illustrates an HMD with sensors and FIG. illustrates a cross-sectional view of a sensor assembly of the head-mountable device of FIG. 1 illustrating a shock absorber that protects the HMDs sensors.
Apple's patent FIGS. 3-6 illustrated various forms a shock absorber could take to most affectively absorb and/or dampen strain, vibration and forces applied thereto. For finer details, review granted patent 11740691.
