Today the US Patent & Trademark Office published a series of four patent applications from Apple relating to Apple Vision Pro. The patents cover various aspects of headset's adaptable fit, posture detection and more. Apple's Mike Rockwell, VP Technology Development Group, stated during the introduction of Apple Vision Pro that their device was protected with over 5,000 patents. The attention to detail, especially for the fit of the device is covered in these four patents, is testament to Apple's continual commitment to quality.

Head-Mountable Device with Adaptable Fit

In the first of four Apple Vision Pro patents published today, Apple notes that a A head-mountable device can include adaptable components, which move to comfortably engage the face of the user and to exclude light from an external environment. A head-mountable device can include a light seal element that includes discrete portions that rotate relative to each other and to a user. Such mobility allows the portions to be oriented with respect to corresponding regions of the face, so that an engagement surface of each portion directly engages the corresponding region of the face to maximize the surface area of contact.

Always keep in mind that a utility patent figure only presents a concept describing the mechanics of a device and never the final product so as to keep the competition in the dark.

Overview for Patent '9010: Apple notes that while head-mountable devices can provide immersive experiences, a user wearing a head-mountable device can also benefit from activities that include body motion and promote the user's health. Because such activities may not be intrinsically necessary to the operation of head-mountable devices, it can be beneficial to provide additional or modified operations that allow a user to continue operation of a head-mountable device while performing the desired body motions. The head-mountable device can detect movement and/or stasis of the user and determine whether motion would be recommended. Upon determining that motion, an additional motion, or a different motion would be beneficial, the head-mountable device can provide an output to the user that promote such motions. The output can include a notification to the user and/or a modification of the user interface that encourages the user to move in a particular way.

One of the first patent reports that Patently Apple posted on this subject matter in 2021 was titled "Apple has won a patent for an HMD with an Adjustable Mechanism that will provide users with a customized facial fit."
