Today Apple was granted 74 patents while their Trademark Filing for 'Optic ID' was published in Hong Kong
Today the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office officially published a series of 74 newly granted patents for Apple Inc covering a wide spectrum of technologies. At the same time, the Hong Kong Patent and Trademark Office published Apple's trademark filing for 'Optic ID' representing Apple's new secure authentication system based on Iris ID biometrics. And as always, we wrap up this week's granted patent report with our traditional listing of the remaining granted patents that were issued to Apple this week.
Today the Hong Kong Patent and Trademark Office published Apple's latest trademark application #306261255 for 'Optic ID' that's associated with the new Apple Vision Pro Spatial Computing Headset that was introduced at the WWDC23 Keynote yesterday.
Optic ID is a new secure authentication system that analyzes a user’s iris under various invisible LED light exposures, and then compares it to the enrolled Optic ID data that is protected by the Secure Enclave to instantly unlock Apple Vision Pro. A user’s Optic ID data is fully encrypted, is not accessible to apps, and never leaves their device, meaning it is not stored on Apple servers.
Apple filed their trademark under International Classes 09 and 42 as detailed below:
Class 09: "Computer hardware; biometric identification and authentication apparatus; biometric scanners; biometric iris scanners; computer software; biometric identification software; application development software; computer software for use as an application programming interface (API) for building software applications; virtual reality software; augmented reality software; software for navigating virtual reality and augmented reality environments."
Class 42: "Computer software consultancy; providing non-downloadable application development software; providing non-downloadable software used in developing other software applications; providing information relating to computer technology; providing information relating to computer programming; providing information relating to computer programs; providing computer hardware and software information online."
